Gratitude

The sun was out - nice and strong - after some rain had come down yesterday afternoon. We were raring to get out and putter in the back.

Its different having a backyard with a deck when you are used to life with a balcony. No matter how large our balcony is, or how close to ground level, it cannot compare to a deck with a yard. Not a chance.
Paint the picture

As my Father-In-law's illness became recognizable before the last fall, there was no time for the preparation of winter.

Pots of flowers were left out, and broken in the cold. Solar lights blew astray, and leaves left upon the deck in piles of soggy mess.

It was clear when we stepped out back yesterday, pretty much for the first time since this catastrophe hit the family head-on, that we needed to pick up where my F.I.L had left off.

I was thankful we had the chance.

  1. You are so right, nothing out there can compare to having a yard.

  2. So right...a yard is wonderful to have. I love going out in mine and reading a nice book under the big mango tree. :)
